What shots do I need before I travel?
The Kenyan government only requires immunization against yellow fever. In addition, we strongly recommend immunization against malaria. Be sure to consult your family doctor and ask if he or she recommends any additional immunizations or shots for you or your family. For detailed, up-to-the-minute information on immunizations, shots, and health and safety advisories for travelers, visit the Centers for Disease Control Traveler’s Health website.

Do I need a visa?
A visa is required to enter Kenya. You can obtain a visa at the airport, upon arrival, or in advance from the Kenyan embassy. Visit www.kenyaembassy.com for details.

Does Kenya.com provide travel insurance?
While Kenya and Tanzania are generally safe places to visit, it's never a bad idea to purchase traveler's insurance to protect you and your property when traveling internationally. Kenya.com does not provide insurance, but we suggest Travel Guard International.

What are the departure dates?
Kenya.com safaris are not prescheduled safaris with fixed departure dates. Our safaris are customized to fit your schedule. When you choose a safari package, you’ll be asked to select a departure date. In other words, let us know when you’d like to visit East Africa, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. The itineraries available here are our most popular, but by no means fixed. We can adjust destinations, lodging, etc to fit your budget and schedule and preferences.

When is the best time to go on safari?
July through August and the month of December are the busiest times in Kenya and Tanzania. Lodges and parks can be crowded with tourists and reservations often must be made six to eight months in advance. July and August also happen to be the months when the wildebeest visit the Maasai Mara. Travel at other times of the year is easier, depending on the weather. East Africa is hottest from February through March. The heaviest rain falls March through May, with lighter rains occurring in November and December.

What should I pack?
When you book with Kenya.com, we’ll provide a detailed list of what to bring and what to leave behind. Briefly, do bring comfortable, mild temperature clothing (it’s not as hot in East Africa as many people think) and comfortable shoes. Don’t bring jewelry or anything else you’d really miss if lost.

Will Kenya.com provide information about the people, places, and wildlife I’m likely to meet?
We certainly will. After your trip is confirmed, we’ll forward information on local customs, safari etiquette, the local flora and fauna, and more.

How many other people will be on the safari?
Only members of your group will be on safari with you. We do not offer safaris to solo travelers. Groups must consist of a minimum of two travelers. Minivans carry a maximum of six passengers, while 4x4 safari jeeps carry four.

I'm a single traveler can I go on safari with Kenya.com?
Kenya.com safaris require a minimum of two travelers.

What is the minimum age for children to go on safari?
We recommend that a child be at least eight years old to go on safari.

Is there a discount for children?
Children ten and younger are charged at 70% of the adult rate when sharing a room with two full paying adults. If a child shares a room with one adult or with another child, the full adult rate applies.

Can you arrange a trip for persons located outside the United States?
Yes, our clients come from all over the world. We make all your arrangements for your stay in Africa including transportation, accommodation, and activities. However, we only arrange international flights originating in the United States.
