Murree is the most famous tourist spot in Pakistan. Thousands of tourists all over the country travel to this beautiful hill station and summer resort situated at the distance of 30 km from Islamabad. Murree was founded in 1851 during British Raj. Murree's altitude is 7500 feet above sea level. Although some believe that name Murree derived from local word ‘marhi' means high place but popular belief is that name based on Virgin Marry who was buried in hills of Murree.
 
Transport to MurreeYou can reach Murree from Islamabad or Rawalpindi by road. As there is no airport or railway station in Murree hence the only way to reach Murree is by road. You can hire taxi or can use public transport to reach Murree from Islamabad. Recently a new Highway is started between Islamabad and Murree which not only reduce the travel time but it is now much easy to drive in the hills of Murree.
Attraction in Murree/Places to watchAlthough you can find lots of places in Murree but Mall Road of Murree is famous in all Pakistan. You can walk or shop on Mall Road. Kashmir Point and Pindi Point are other Important places in Murree. You can enjoy Chairlift at Pindi Point which is amazing experience and from Pindi Point you can have amazing view of Rawalpindi City. Kashmir Point is the highest place in Murree and you can have view of Kashmir Valley if weather is clear form there. There are many hiking tracks in Murree.Weather of Murree is perfect as it is pleasant in Summers and you can enjoy snowfall in winters. It receives lot of rainfall and fog during the most time of year.
The stay in Murree is no problem as there are plenty of Hotels and guest houses in Murree. In nutshell Murree is the best tourist destination in Pakistan.
